District 9 Glimmer of Hope
There is much darkness cast by the tragedy, fear, and economic devastation brought about by COVID-19. There are also glimmers of hope. People bringing light and hope into our world with their actions, their commitment, and their leadership. District 9 is home to many of those people.
Meet Famo Musa. Famo was born in Somalia and raised in Kenya. She is a Mother, Teaching Artist, Photographer, Poet, Creative Writer, and Youth Organizer. Through her creativity and leadership Famo has been highlighting the beauty of the community while also developing a group of strong young leaders who are working to make the world a better place.
I first met Famo while traveling to a statewide convening of youth activists. I was immediately struck by her kindness, intelligence, and keen eye for the perfect shot.
In so many ways, Famo should inspire hope. From her personal journey to her art to the way she lifting up a new generation, Famo represents everything I appreciate about our community.
